Design Technologies – Project 3 The Rube Goldberg Machine AC9TDE8K03: 9 Lesson Plans + Marking Rubric + Worksheet Suggestions (Year 7/8)
Get ready for an exciting and challenging project: Designing and building a Rube
Goldberg Machine!
Have you ever seen those crazy contraptions in cartoons where one small action triggers a chain reaction of events, ending in a seemingly simple task? Well, that's exactly what we're going to create!
In this project, we'll dive into the world of engineering, exploring the amazing power of simple machines. We'll learn about levers, pulleys, wheels and axles, and how they work together to create incredible chains of events. We'll use the Design Thinking process to guide us through the project. We'll start by empathizing with the user (ourselves!) and defining a fun and challenging task for our machine. Then, we'll ideate and brainstorm crazy ideas, prototype and test our designs, and finally evaluate our creations.
This project will challenge your creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
So, get ready to think outside the box, experiment, and have some fun building amazing Rube Goldberg machines!"
