Philosophy: 10 Lesson Plans + 1 Summative Assessment Task (Year 3-6)
Welcome to the exciting world of philosophy! Have you ever wondered why we believe certain things, or how we know what is true? Or maybe you've thought about what makes something right or wrong, or how we can be truly happy? These are the kinds of questions philosophers ask, and they're the kinds of questions we'll explore in this unit.
Philosophy is all about thinking deeply, asking big questions, and trying to understand the world around us. It's not about finding the "right" answer right away but about exploring ideas, discussing them with others, and learning to see things from different points of view.
Throughout this unit, we will think about things like:
• What makes something fair or just?
• How do we know what is true or real?
• What does it mean to be a good friend or a good person?
• Can we really be in control of our actions, or is everything decided for us?
• What does it mean to live a meaningful life?
You'll have the chance to discuss these big ideas, ask your own questions, and listen to others' thoughts and opinions. You don’t need to be an expert to join in — we’ll learn together by thinking critically, sharing ideas, and respecting different views.
By the end of this unit, you will be able to think more clearly about these deep questions and understand why it’s important to reflect on them. Let’s get ready to explore some of the most interesting questions that have puzzled people for thousands of years!
