Empower your students to navigate big emotions with Professor Pouch, the friendly guide to self-regulation. This engaging, student-centered reflection sheet is designed to help children identify their feelings and choose the right tools to get back to a "Steady Green" state.

By using relatable animal characters and simple language, this resource transforms the often-intimidating "disciplinary conversation" into a collaborative problem-solving session between teacher and student.

Key Student-Facing Features

This reflection guide uses a two-step process for students to take ownership of their regulation:

Step 1: Check Your Pouch! Students identify their current emotional "zone" using fun Australian animal personas:

  • Red Roo: Feeling angry, loud, or wanting to "hop away".
  • Yellow Joey: Feeling wiggly, chatty, or unable to sit still.
  • Blue Koala: Feeling sleepy, sad, or "dreamy".
  • Green Galah: Feeling calm and ready to learn.

Step 2: Use Your Tools! Students reflect on which sensory tools they used to help Regulate their bodies:

  • Noise-cancelling headphones for quiet.
  • A weighted lizard for feeling heavy and safe.
  • Resistance bands for leg "heavy work".
  • The 5-4-3-2-1 trick to ground the brain.

Teacher’s Professional Reflection Section

The second page includes a dedicated space for the Reason Stage, allowing you to analyse the incident once the student is calm:

  • Behavior Pattern Analysis: Determine if the student was stimulus-hungry (ADHD) or threat-hungry (Trauma).
  • Relational Check: Reflect on whether an "invite" was used instead of a "command" to prevent shame.
  • Environmental Audit: Identify specific triggers (noise, transitions, people) to help keep the student in their Window of Tolerance.

Format: Digital Download (PDF) Best For: Primary classrooms, calm-down corners, and social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons.
